FAQ

If you decide to incorporate instead of becoming a sole proprietor, you must incorporate PRIOR to submitting your application to the Contractors State Licensing Board.

Incorporating your company as either a corporation or limited liability company (LLC) is our specialty. The form that you will need to complete is contained in the corresponding form tab on this website. Remember, using our service to correctly complete the form properly the first time eliminates rejections by the Secretary of State, which are very common and costly!

Once signed and returned to us, we file the same day at the front counter of the Secretary of State at their headquarters in Sacramento. For your convenience, we have same-day or 24 hour turnaround available to you.

Getting Started

Provide us with 3 names in the order of preference and we can check to ensure that the name is available. If at least one of the names is available, we will then complete the form (based on the information you provide us), scan and send to you for your signature. Then, simply scan or fax the signed form back to us and we will file it directly at the Secretary of State’s front counter in Sacramento.

Interested In Forming an LLC – Did you know?

Did you know that forming an LLC for your construction company is considerably more expensive? This is why most LLCs are only being filed by large companies. Things to consider:

  • $100,000 Surety Bond. LLC licenses are required to file a $100,000 surety bond (in addition to the $12,500 license bond). Besides the cost, can your company qualify to obtain this bond? This bond is intended as protection for the benefit of any employee or worker damaged by the LLC’s failure to pay wages, interest on wages, or fringe benefits, as well as other contributions.
  • $1 Million Liability Insurance Minimum. LLC licenses are required to carry liability insurance with the aggregate limit of $1 million for licensees with five or fewer persons listed as personnel; plus an additional $100,000 is required for each additional personnel; not to exceed $5 million total.

Processing Times

Turnaround times for normal processing averages between one and two weeks. We do fast-tracks (same day or 24 hour service).
